I have thought about motherhood as a secondary thing to my career (being only 20 at the moment) but I don't see why I should have to.
Very important article, well worth sharing. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2948320579820137387.post-38411118477832550172014-06-04T13:29:17.007-07:002014-06-04T13:29:17.007-07:00Marija sums up pretty much my thoughts too. The pressure on women to be mothers, wives, employees, employers, thin, rich and happy to boot, it is so extreme. I wouldn't want to go back 90 years, however we need to readdress the expectations on women. As a mother of a daughter I worry terribly about the world she is growing up into.
Wonderful post!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05905227914095176928noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2948320579820137387.post-10543164501812556542014-06-04T05:08:09.219-07:002014-06-04T05:08:09.219-07:00Ana - this is such a powerful article, and I'm...Ana - this is such a powerful article, and I'm going to share it as much as possible.

It really is fascinating to see (in a kind of car crash--watching way) how a woman's primary function has shifted so much in the space of 90 years. And it's so true also how nowadays her secondary function of 'economic unit' is causing so many people to experience stress as mothering is yet another 'thing' that needs to be fitted in. It causes so much stress, and heartache. I, personally, would like to see much more financial support given to mothers. Child benefit only just about manages to pay for things like new shoes and clothes.

Thank you for your powerful post and the link to the information about bonobos was a really good read too :-)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
